Yes...quite a bit. The main ones being...How were we brought here? Why? What is going on back at home while we are here? I know we don't have the ability to return to our worlds on our own...but are things being investigated?

Those are good questions. [Steve heaves a faint sigh] We have no idea how or why we've been brought here. I can't guarantee what's going on back home while you're here, but I do know this - I went home at one point for two years. When I went back, it was like no time had passed at all, and I didn't remember being here. When I came back, I immediately remembered being here in the city before, and only a week had passed here.

[He glances at Haldir] There are a lot of people trying to figure things out. I'd recommend you talk to Phoenix Wright, and Waver Velvet. They've been here a long time, collecting information. My team is also working on their own investigation, and if there's anything you do find out, I'd appreciate if you'd share it with me.

This place can affect Time then? [He found that rather interesting as the only other person he knew who could do that was Lady Galadriel. And it didn't seem to be anything to that extreme.]

I will be sure to contact them and deliver any information I learn. You say teams...what teams are here and what they do they do?

Yeah, that's what it seems like. Sometimes people who know each other come along and one of them is from later in the timestream than the other, too.

[They've passed under the trees now, and Steve breaks into a light jog, gradually increasing in speed so he can see how fast Haldir is able to go and sustain the pace]

Back home, I'm the leader of a team of people. Some of those people are here, and we work together here, too. We call ourselves the Avengers. That's the team I meant.

There are people from my world...who come from various points in time as well. At first I thought it was unusual, but I suppose now it makes sense.

[Noting that Steve was picking up his pace, he followed as well. Should Steve choose to pick up the pace more, he would easily match it.] What brought your team together?

[It didn't sound like they were uniformed from the start. Not like how things worked back at home.]

Oh yeah? Who's here from your world?

[Steve gradually broke into a run, though he himself wasn't breathing hard at all. To him, what was a fast pace to any normal man, was slow.]

A man named Nick Fury identified each of us as having the sorts of skills he needed, and brought us together to fight against a man who'd come to steal a powerful object and take over our world with a huge alien army.

There are two kin from my world, both have arrived at times from my past. [Haldir is unaware of Thorin at this point. He only knows that Lady Celebrain and now recently King Thranduil are here.] It was said another member of my kin was here, but had left.

[For the marchwarden this run was more of a warmup. He was wanting to speed up the pace some more. He used to race his brothers through the trees for a challenge.]

Were you able to defeat him? [He didn't understand the term alien, and associated it some form of monster instead. He did get that it was some kind of threat.]

Other elves? [Steve hasn't spoken to any others, though he's seen a little of Thranduil in passing.

He can tell that he isn't pushing Haldir yet, and that's interesting. Steve shifts into his actual jogging pace, which would be considered a sprint to a regular human, but he can maintain it for hours.]

Yeah, we defeated him in the end, and destroyed his army. His name is Loki - he's actually here, though we've made a truce.

[He glanced at Haldir] Are you a soldier? Do elves have armies and soldiers?

Yes, Lady Celebrain and King Thranduil both from different realms. The three of us are from different realms. However in answer to your question, all the Elves are able to fight and have fought in wars and battles in the past.

[He paused a bit before delivering the next bit of information.]

I was preparing to leave for a battle when I had been sent here instead. I volunteered knowing that in order to protect my land and the ones I loved I should help the ones in need.

However...it is rare that my kin will join in a battle that involves beyond our borders. Others would think we're being selfish and ignorant.... It is more of the fact that we've done our share of helping in the past and only wish to be left alone.

And you? Were you a soldier before you joined your team?

[Steve listened, and the more he heard, the more he liked this guy. He decided to change things up a bit, and paused in a clearing to get his bearings. Often, the forest held hostile monsters, and he paused to listen, then began to walk softly through the trees.

He was pretty quiet for a man, which to an elf would still be a horrible crashing and crunching, but he did his best.]

But you decided to join my patrols. You don't want to be left alone? [He asked the question gently, curious, rather than with judgment. And he nodded] I was a soldier. Still am, in a way.

[Haldir did respect the fact Steve was trying to be quite. Most didn't bother. The Elf was always alert and paid closer attention to his surroundings. He had understood Lady Celebrain's warnings about the forest, but felt it was just what he was used to experiencing back at home.]

I wish to keep busy. This is close to what I do back at home and would also help me to adjust to the ways of the city. I've been to other cities before...but never for a long time and never with such a wide mix of people.

Makes sense - I know exactly how you feel. [Steve gave a quiet laugh, and paused as they entered a clearing.

He glanced at Haldir] Well, I just want you to know that you're in, and I'm glad to have you, Haldir. Are you interested in sparring for a bit?

Thank you, I am honored to be with your group. [After what he had learned he meant it. There were still honorable men out there, as much as Haldir had been lead to believe and it was a relief to learn this.]

I would enjoy sparring. Only one last question. Can I be assigned to patrol the forest and the woods?

Yeah, sure. [Steve had pretty much intended to do that anyway. Because: elf.] That means you'll be under my command directly.

[He stepped out into the clearing, and pulled his shield off his back, shifting into a defensive stance.] Try not to shoot me in anything really important, okay?

[He gave a nod of understanding and in thanks. The last comment earned an amused expression on his face.]

I'm sure I would hear you before I saw you.

Yeah, I'm sure you would. [Steve grinned] Though my shield's been good to me, so I might be okay.

[As they talked, Haldir brought out his longsword and stood in a defensive measure. He was rather curious to see how well Steve fought....and well Haldir had never fought against a human before. It was always with his fellow kin he had sparred with.]

Is that your main weapon?

[Only when he realized that Steve was indeed planning on using the shield as his weapon, he was a little surprised by this tactic.]

[Steve arched a brow] Sure is. [And he was clearly waiting for Haldir to make the first move, standing in a defensive stance as well with the shield ready]
